im Captain Forrest Weyrauch, a native of the Catskill Mountains in New York, raised along the East Branch of the Delaware River. While my roots lie in the serene beauty of the Catskills, Key Largo and the Upper Keys have held a special place in my heart since childhood. From my initial visit at a mere six months old, Key Largo has been a cherished winter retreat. Following high school, my career commenced in construction, spanning fifteen states along the East Coast, where I contributed to diverse projects from bridges and highways to natural gas pipelines. Despite the success in my construction experience, my true passion lied in hunting, fishing, and the untamed wilderness.

In 2015, at the age of 25, I made a pivotal decision to transition away from construction and pursue my true passion. Embarking on a journey to obtain my New York State guide license, I laid the foundations for Rugged Pine Outfitters, an all-encompassing outfitter situated on the Upper Delaware River system. Specializing in fly fishing for trout and smallmouth bass and spin fishing for walleye and striped bass, as well as waterfowl hunting, my days were immersed in the splendor of the outdoors. Yet, a yearning for more persisted to call me.

After nearly two whole decades of annual visits to the Upper Keys, my bond with the Florida Keys and the fisheries it provided deepened, culminating in a life changing decision. I resolved to answer the” Keys' call”. Temporarily suspending operations at Rugged Pine Outfitters, my family and I relocated to Key Largo to fulfill my lifelong ambition of establishing a charter business in the beautiful florida keys

Upon settling in Key Largo in spring 2022, I swiftly immersed myself in the maritime world. Undertaking a mentorship role as a mate on a local head boat, I diligently accrued the necessary sea time. while Simultaneously attending sea school training I began to prepare for the captain's licensing examination. With success in the examinations, I proudly obtained my USCG captain's license.

“Brutus” is our vessel, a 20-foot Action Craft Flats Master SE 2020, propelled by a robust 300hp Yamaha outboard engine. Boasting a beam width just slightly exceeding 8 feet, this boat stands out as one of the more spacious and stable flats boats. Its size and power afford us the flexibility to navigate diverse locations, courtesy of an extended fuel range. we can go anywhere From the Atlantic patch reefs to the shallower backcountry spots, our boat is adept at reaching various fishing grounds. Equipped with a silent Power-Pole shallow water anchor system and a Minn Kota trolling motor, we can access these areas effortlessly. with the availability to Accommodate 3 anglers alongside the captain, or two adults anglers and two young anglers alongside the captain, our seating arrangement ensures comfort during excursions. With a smooth cruising speed of 45 mph and a top speed of 60 mph, our vessel guarantees swift, comfortable, and secure transit to your desired destinations.

• Flats and backcountry fishing: Providing light tackle and fly fishing experiences targeting a variety of species such as snook, permit, bonefish, tarpon, sea trout, redfish, sharks, and barracuda.

• Patch reef fishing: Offering opportunities to catch yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper, grouper, porgy, and various bottom fish species.

• Sandbar excursions: Enjoy leisure time by wading, swimming, or floating at one of the renowned sandbars in the Keys.

• Eco tours: Explore the Florida Bay and the Everglades Park, where encounters with manatees, saltwater crocodiles, dolphins, diverse bird species, and other wildlife amidst the area's natural breath taking beauty awaits.

• Sunset cruises: Experience a private sunset cruise for up to four individuals in the Florida Bay, Indulge in a relaxing cruise to a preferred bayside restaurant or bar, followed by a tranquil sunset voyage back to the dock.

• Offshore trips: Available upon request with limited availability, these trips involve trolling and fishing for sailfish, mahi-mahi, wahoo, tuna, kingfish, amberjack, and various other offshore species.

• Multi-activity trips are also available, providing a blend of activities for an enjoyable day catering to the whole family.

• Freelance captain services are offered as well, if you’re planning to bring or rent your own boat, you can hire us to handle all the responsibilities , and provide the guidance and knowledge while you relax and enjoy your time.

What we provide

All top-of-the-line fishing equipment ,tackle and bait, along with brand-new USCG-approved safety gear, are included. A Bluetooth stereo system is available for enjoying your preferred music. Each trip also comes with a cooler stocked with fresh ice for storing lunch, snacks and beverages and Complimentary bottled water is provided on every excursion.

What we ask you bring

Sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable and non-marking deck or boat shoes, sweatshirts, jackets, or raincoats as a precaution. Additionally, you are welcomed to bring your own lunch, snacks, and beverages, and most importantly come prepared with a fun and adventurous spirit for a delightful day under the sun!
